Spreading Gender Equality and Personal Leadership Throughout Cambodia - Part 2

This is part 2 of a series about the organizations and schools that use the Cambodian version of Diving Deep, Going Far to teach concepts such as gender equality and personal leadership. The Khmer Youth Association, one of the best-known youth organizations in Cambodia, received 180 copies for six of the high schools they collaborate with, reaching a total of 7,000 students. They are using Diving Deep, Going Far to encourage students to read more, to increase their critical thinking, and as input for student debates.

Kids Play International, an international NGO based in Siem Reap, received 45 copies to encourage gender discussions among the girls in their program. They also use Diving Deep, Going Far to train their local staff to become gender equality coaches.

Education First Cambodia runs a program that supports female students at the Royal University of Phnom Penh that originate from poor rural communities. They are using Diving Deep, Going Far in the student reading club.

The staff at Banteay Srey Women’s Spa in Kampot have three copies to share among them. Banteay Srey is a social enterprise that offers vocational training and a safe working environment for women from difficult circumstances.

Peace Corps Volunteer Patricia Smith and high school teacher Vanna Yeun lead a book club for 20 students in Pursat province. Thanks to a donation from America, Patricia was able to gift every student with their own English copy of Diving Deep, Going Far. The book club students are able to identify with the characters and relate to the story, and are very dedicated to learning English.
